‘Beginning at the End’, launches the album with an apocalyptic, metal-driven instrumental soundscape. Themed around ‘the end’, its thunderous riffs and relentless rhythms herald the start of a transformative journey through the afterlife - ushering listeners into the album’s exploration of mortality, and what lies beyond.

‘As One with the Light’ marks the first stage of the journey, opening with gentle rhythm guitar and a plaintive vocal introduction. As the song unfolds, additional instruments join, building to a powerful crescendo. The soundscape mirrors transformation, culminating in a euphoric unity - becoming as one with the light.

‘Too Busy to Die’ delivers an energetic, defiant stance as the protagonist insists he has unfinished business and refuses Death. The memorable line, “I can’t go with you – I’m too busy to die,” encapsulates the track’s urgent, resilient spirit within the album’s exploration of mortality.

At nearly eight minutes, ‘Cycle 5’ traces the protagonist’s journey through the levels of Hades and Heaven. Its ethereal, dreamy, heavenly instrumental centrepiece is bookended by darker passages, representing the evils that condemned souls to Hades.

‘The Grand Bazaar’ pulses with eastern melodies and rhythms with a strong dance beat, capturing the protagonist’s desperate search for escape in a sea of bustling souls. The instrumental paints a vivid picture of teeming crowds, restless movement, and the urgency of evasion within the mysterious realms beyond life.

‘Watchman, What Time of Night?’ channels Jazz Fusion into a haunting dialogue with Charon, ferryman of the Styx. Through apocalyptic imagery, Charon explains, “you just don’t realise what it does to you on the other side,” blurring boundaries between life and death.

‘Breakdown’ signals the ultimate collapse - mental, physical, and emotional. This instrumental stands apart, weaving unpredictable sonic textures that resist simple classification. Its intense layers reflect utter dissolution, making it impossible to capture fully in words; you truly need to experience it firsthand to grasp its raw, enigmatic power.

The uplifting ‘New Beginning’ captures the essence of rebirth and resurrection, charting the return to life after traversing death’s landscape. Its infectious melody and standout guitar bridge make it a highlight. This is the extended album version. A shorter single version was also released that is worth looking for.
