PART 1 - The Daytime

Rain Part 1 - First Movement

We start with the basic theme of the piece, introducing the recurring motif. Hear the first drops of rain falling, at first intermittently and then more steadily. Acoustic rhythm guitar begins and is joined by a rolling bass line. Electric guitar takes up the effect of the first raindrops, before the entry of drums and lead guitar.

A new variation is introduced with keyboard leading to the first of a series of heavier showers in waves. The two electric guitars take alternating leads giving a striking harmonic effect. The drum line becomes progressively heavier before suddenly returning to a light shower of the opening theme.

The variation returns with a heavier and stronger riff and guitar, finally giving way to a brief break in the rain. We hear the drops falling from wet leaves during this brief respite.

Rain Part 1 - Second Movement

The storm returns with vengeance as a completely fresh theme appears.

The scene of gusty winds and driving rain is set by the bass, drum and guitar, before the lead guitar emerges. The rage of the storm passes as quickly as it arrived.

Rain Part 1 - Third Movement

A sombre theme now arises lead by a ghostly second lead guitar and bass, representing the darkened, cold and still day. This lasts only briefly before returning to the main theme.

As the rain again starts to fall with now a more bright and up-tempo feel, we are suddenly opened into a sun-shower as the lead guitar and keyboard take the fore.

Rain Part 1 - Fourth Movement

We now bring it all back to a new theme for the final movement as we build toward a thunderstorm. Cymbals represent thunder and lightning as the keyboard and electric rhythm guitar start to drive the piece to its' conclusion.

The second lead and main lead now re-appear as the drum line changes. The full force of the storm now hits as the lead guitar takes over and everything builds to a crescendo.

PART 2 - The Nighttime

Rain Part 2 - First Movement

Starting with a more melancholy introduction than rain part 1, this nevertheless begins again with the acoustic rhythm and bass guitars to set the scene before the second electric elicits the light drops of the start of the storm. The main lead guitar and keyboard then bring us into the rainstorm proper before returning to the bass theme and a repeat with variations.

A ghostly vibe lead brings us to the final part of the movement, reminding us of what lurks in the dark. A return to the rainstorm theme closes out this section.

Rain Part 2 - Second Movement

Still a little spooky, this more up-tempo section is a little reminiscent of 60's pop with a simple drum line and boppy guitar line. But don't be fooled.

As the rain clears for a time and the moon comes through the clouds, the flute takes up the lead. Owls look on over the darkened pond before the rain starts again.

Once more the up-tempo theme returns with some variations to make it a bit more driving, before once again giving out to a still night and the flute again.

Rain Part 2 - Third Movement

We return once more to the main theme but this time, nearer midnight, the vibe lead guitar comes once again to disturb the night.

Rain Part 2 - Fourth Movement

The final movement starts darkly, with acoustic, bass, lead guitar, and drum counting down to the coming storm, which arrives by way of the second lead and keyboards.

As the storm builds the electric rhythm guitar brings thunder and lightning. As rain and wind now rage in the blackened night the lead guitar takes the roll of the thundering rain. The drums build up to the final crescendo.
